KAP Differential Pressure Sensor
KAP Differencial Pressure Transducer

The KAP Series of cost effective high performance pressure transducers have been designed for dynamic pressure measurements using a Pitot tube in demanding motorsport and automotive applications.

The transducers offer a high level of reliability and endurance, they are protected against the high vibration, shock and high temperatures found in motorsport. The sensor is also suitable for wet/wet installations.

The KAP Series are race proven and can be found in many race series around the world.

KAPT Pitot Tube
KA Sensors KAPT Pitot Tube

A Pitot Tube is used to measure a cars speed relative to the surrounding air.  The assembly is made up of a pair of concentric tubes.  The ellipsoidal nose cone at the tip has a small aperture in the end connected to the inner tube, whilst an annular ring of holes on the outer tube senses the static/surrounding air pressure.  By measuring the difference between the air pressure of the inner and outer tubes (see the KA Sensors KAP Differential Pressure Sensor), the speed of the vehicle can be sensed, measured and calculated.  Whilst a standard sized KAPT is available, a fully bespoke custom service is also available.  See the separate datasheet (KAP) for details of the Differential Pressure Sensor (KAP).

KTSM Turbo Speed Sensor
KTSM Turbo Speed Sensor

The KTSM Series of turbo speed /temperature sensors are designed for direct installation into the turbo casing.   Development of the system has taken into account the environment inside the engine compartment and various design features have been incorporated to keep the signal clean and rugged.

Sensing is by the eddy current principle to detect the blades (Titanium or aluminium) as they pass by. 

Typical applications include: Turbo speed - High Speed Shaft.
